We collect what it takes to run an account and bill it, we do not sell it, and we do not track you around the web. Landowner records in the service are public records, and owners can ask to be removed.
This policy explains what MEC Media Co. collects when you use meclandscout.com and the LandScout service, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It covers account holders and visitors. It also explains how we handle information about landowners, who are not our users but whose public records appear in the service.
Account information. Your email address, name and a hashed password. If you subscribe, Stripe gives us a customer id, your plan, and the status and renewal date of your subscription. We never receive your full card number.
What you do in the service. Which parcels you open, save or add to your pipeline, the notes and outreach entries you write, the searches you save, the questions you ask the assistant, and usage counts against your plan limits (for example, AI reports viewed this month). We keep these so the product works and so plan limits can be enforced.
Technical information. IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps, in server logs that rotate. A session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Email. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your notes, pipeline or searches to train AI models.
When you open an AI parcel report or ask the assistant a question, the parcel's public-record fields and your question are sent to Anthropic, whose model writes the answer. Your name and email are not included. Anthropic processes this under its commercial terms, which do not permit training on the data. Batch assessments of parcels are generated in advance from public records alone and involve no user data.
The service displays owner names, tax-roll mailing addresses, appraised land values and transfer history for parcels of undeveloped land. This information is drawn from county assessor and GIS records, which are public under Alabama law. We do not append phone numbers, email addresses or other non-public data to it.
We show it so that people researching land can write to an owner in good faith. Our Terms of Service require users to contact owners lawfully and to stop when asked.
If you are a landowner and would prefer that a parcel not appear in our lists or assessments, email [email protected] with the parcel number or address. We will remove it within ten business days and keep it removed through future data refreshes. This is a courtesy we extend regardless of what the law requires.
Account data is kept while your account is open. Close your account and we delete your profile, notes, pipeline and searches within 30 days, keeping only what tax and payment law requires (invoice records, kept seven years). Server logs are kept for 90 days. Backups roll over within 30 days.
We do not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because we do not track you across other sites.
Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted in transit, production access is limited to named staff over a private network, and payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data we will tell you without undue delay.
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, email us and we will close it.
We will post any new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, email account holders before the changes take effect.
